I think that when Max is hanging around with Freak that it helps Max's confidence about himself. Like when they are in class and they start to chant "FREAK THE MIGHT" to the rest of the class Max thinks it was really fun to that.
I think that haveing a dad like Maxes dad would be kind of scary. Like you might be in the store and they wont serve you because your dad is Killer Kane. It would be really wierd.

I think thax hangs with Freak it makes him smarter, because he keeps having to look up things in the dictionary. I also agree with Tabatha.
I think that having a dad like Max's would be cool and scary at the same time. It would be cool because if you have bullies or something you can show them your dad and they will be scared. But it would be freaky because what if your dad got angry and, well, that would just be freaky.

I think that with Max hanging around Freak helps him out a lot. I think it helps his self esteem like Tabatha said. I also agree with Lauren that he's getting smarter. I think he's learning how to trust and be able to do stuff with out being scared.
Well, if my dad was Killer Kane I don't really know what I would do. I don't think that it's really cool because you can be picked on like on the page where all the class mates start calling Max words like "Maxi Pad" and other stuff. I would be worried that he would come back for me or hurt someone I love. I would be scared of the past probably. Over all I think it would be weird and creepy.

  4. I think that hanging out with Freak helps Max a lot. Since Freak has such a big vocabulary, and since he's so smart, chances are pretty good that some of it is rubbing of on Max. It's also good because Freak always stands up for Max in school.
If I had killer Kane for a dad, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Having a killer be my dad would creep me out, because I would always have the feeling that I'm being watched, or that he's coming for me, just like in the book.

I think Max gets smarter when he hangs out with Freak. In the book it states that Freak breaks everything down so Max can understand. I also agree with Tabatha, that Freak helps Max with his self esteem.

Because everybody says Killer Kane kills people, it would probably be scary to have Killer Kane as a dad. I would try to avoid him at all times, and never make him mad. I would avoid Killer Kane because if I ran into him somewhere, he might hurt me.

  6. I think hanging out with Freak does make him smarter. I agree with Noah Freak does break things down for him to understand. Where as others would just give up and call him dumb.I also agree with Michael, because now that he has Freak's personal dictionary he can understand some of the words Freak says faster. So maybe he can start using them on his own.
I agree with Lauren that having a criminal as a dad would be okay, because it would definately limit the bullying problems. But I also agree with Alex.I would love some back up when someone is taunting me, but I wouldn't want my dad to hurt anyone important.

  7. I wouldn't think that spending time with mean person would do you much good. Especially one who might of done something REALLY bad.

  8. I'm not really sure how I would even deal with any dad because I never had one, but i'm sure I could find a way to talk to him.

I think that Max and Freak hanging out together is a good thing because it means that Max has a friend to be with. Max is also doing better in school like it said in the book.
If my dad was killer Kane then I would be really mad at him and try and go live with my Grandparents.

Max hanging out with Freak is kind of making him smarter because he is learning things the same way how we learn to talk and walk, by watching our parents or leaders. But, I think it is making him realizing how dumb he is, and he thinks that he can't do anything without Freak. Like he says in chapter 20 or 21 I believe.
I would follow Killer Kanes rules, because I would never want to test his strength or anger. Kane loves his son, but just doesn't know how to handle his anger, or to be a dad- after all, he barely know his own son.

I believe that when Max is with Freak it helps him be more smart. When he is with Freak he is constantly looking words up in the dictionary which makes him learn new words making him more smart.

I would handle having a dad like Killer Kane by well I would try to stay as far away from him as possiable! I would want to get to know him so maybe I would write to him. But, I would definantly be scared and dissapointed having a dad like Killer Kane.

  13. Question 1:

In my opinion, hanging out with Kevin or Freak if you will has been good for Max. I think this because Kevin (Freak) has been helping Max with his reading and writing lately. Max has been able to read at his one level. This, for him, is good. Freak has been using big words so Max has to look them up in the dictionary to see what he’s saying which is good because he’s improving his vocabulary and becoming smarter.

    Question 2:

How would I deal with a dad like Max’s or Killer Kane if you will? I would just ignore that fact and just pretend I don’t have a dad. Kind of like what Max is doing. But I would also obey his orders because that wouldn’t be good if he were to hurt a friend or family member. I would think some people might think that having a criminal as a dad is cool but really it isn’t because if you get him in a bad temper he could explode. This wouldn’t be good!

    Evidence:
    Question 1- Pg. 81 and 82
    Question 2- Pg. 84

  14. Part 1:

I belive that Kevin is helping Max in a couple of ways. Way 1: Max is learning better vocabulary from the big head Kevin has(and uses). Way 2: Max's reading skills are going up from reading the dictonary.Last but not least way 3: Kevin is helping Max with his spelling to find word in the dictionary you must know how to spell it.

    Part 2:

Hmmm...the second question is tricker . I would avoid him(killer Kane) in every possible way no letters, phone calls,or visits. I would ignore the fact that I ever had a father but I would have to remember that he killed my mom. I would avoid him because I would be terrified that he would kill me too.

Part 1: I think Max needs a friend to help him in school. Kevin is smart and can tutor Max. Max really needs Kevin. Maybe Max will learn how to write.

Part 2: Max's dad is a bad parent. I couldn't hanlde a person like that. I would run away from home or report him to the police.

    Part 1:

Well my opinion is that Kevin is helping Max in different ways. Like he is teaching Max bigger words and what they mean. Kevin even made Max a dictionary which is helping Max read more and get better at reading(chapter 15 page 95 or 96.)The dictionary is not only helping Max read but it is also helping him know how to spell bigger words.

    Part 2:

I try to get away from him in anyway possible. First of all because he killed my mom and secondly he is scary. I would most likely pretend to like him, then sooner than later report him to the police.

    Question 1:

I think that Max hanging out with Freak helps Max out a lot. This is because Freak is really smart and he uses big words that make Max have to look them up in a dictionary. This might not be fun for Max but he is learning while he does this. How? Well when Freak uses a big word that Max doesn’t understand, Max looks it up in the dictionary and learns the meaning and gets a little bit smarter. Plus, on page 97 it says that for Christmas Freak got Max a dictionary with big words and meanings. This will definitely make Max smarter.

    Question 2:

How would I deal with a dad like Max’s? Well first I’d think that it’s pretty cool but then it would also be really scary. It would be cool because if people were picking on you at school or something like they were on page 76 calling Max “Maxi Pad” if my dad were out of prison I could show them my dad then he’d scare them and the wouldn’t pick on me anymore. It could also be pretty scary too because on page 105 Killer Kane says, “I didn’t ask you a question, boy. Rule number one, don’t sass your old man.” It would be scary because it could kind of back fire on you and something very, very bad could happen. After all, his dad is KILLER KANE. Over all it would be scary but cool at the same time.

Question 1- Well I think sice Kevin has been hanging out with Max so much that he has been becoming a very smart boy. I mean Kevin is making Max take a dictionary where every he go's. Also Kevin has been teaching Max how to use bigger words then he is used of.

Question 2- If my dad was just like Max's then I would just freak out. I mean Max's dad is known as killer Kane and that name would just be terrifing to say. Also he is kind of like a mad old grumpy old trole and could really hurt somebody if you make him mad. So basically what I am trying to say is that I would hate to have a father that is croole and not caring.

Q1 Freak is like a tutor to Max. So everyone has a higher expectation of him. They usually think "Oh Kicker. Let's stay away from him!". Freak is doing many many things for him. Like giving him moral support, teaching him, and being a great friend. No one never liked them. They always get bullied. But two negatives equal a positive. Two matches. Opposites alike. All of those sayings define Freak the Mighty.

Q2 Dealing with Killer Kane/Kenny Kane would be difficult being that he is a cold hearted criminal. Saying his name is bad enough. A feared man. I would just walk away and never pay attention. Or maybe intimidate him. Thinking "You don't scare me!". Just don't care.

  21. I think that Max hanging out with Kevin is actually really good for him. At home Max is kind of forced to learn a lot of hard words because Kevin is always using them. At school Max was helped by Freak by not getting put in the L.D. class. Not getting put in the L.D. class makes Max a lot smarter. Kevin kind of helps Max, when the teacher says something that Max doesn’t understand Kevin explains it to him in a way he can understand. That is why I think that Max hanging out with Kevin is actually a really good idea for him.

Having to deal with a dad like Kenny would actually be pretty easy. To deal with him you just have to learn what he expects of you, and then do it. One of the things that Kenny expects of Max is respecting adults. Like on page 105 Kenny is talking about seeking shelter and connects it with Mary and Joseph seeking shelter in a manger. Then Kenny says, “That’s what we’re doing, seeking shelter,” he says. “Except this isn’t exactly a manger we’re going to.” No, sir,” I say. “It sure isn’t.” He touches me real soft on the back of the neck and says, “I didn’t ask you a question, boy. Rule number one, don’t sass your old man.” That is when Kenny shows Max to respect adults. After that little “Showing” Max just kind of keeps quiet. Keeping quiet is one of the best ways to deal with Kenny.
