ReplyDeleteOn pages 143, 144, and 145 it says that Kevin got a brand new computer. It was significant because you could do anything at home and it would be just like you were doing your work at school. It was like it was made just for Freak.
I think Kevin made up the story about the new body because like it says in the book he needed something to look forward in life. I think he also told Max about it because he didn't want to make him scared or worried. He probably told everyone so they would treat him like a normal person. I believe that if he told everyone the truth they might have cared more about the time they had with Kevin. Basically, I think that Freak just wanted to hide the truth and have something to live for.

DeleteKevin gets the new computer that he really wants. It is really significant because he really needs it. I mean he doesn't have the same things that we do. It sounds like he doesn't have a cell phone or a laptop or even a desktop computer.
ReplyDeleteKevin make up the story about getting a new body. Because He needed something to hope for. So he made this cool story to tell people about and to hope for.
What Kevin got for his birthday was a computer so he doesn't hog the main computer. He must have ben quite the hog to have his own computer so he can play many knight type games.
ReplyDeleteI belive that he didn't tell the truth so that he could imagegine himself better as a robot. I also think even though he knew about his condition he wanted to sound cool because of the robot body he was "getting."

ReplyDeleteFor his birthday, Freak got a great computer that he could play games on ,like 3D chess.
Freak can also communicate with Max at school when Freak is absent, because Max got a matching computer.
It states in the book that Freak made up the robot story to give himself hope that he would not die. I think that Freak knew he would die because I do not think he would have made up the robot story if he did not know that he was going to die.
I think that the computer was really special to Freak. He's a total brainiac, and getting a computer to call his own for about ten minutes must have meant a lot to him, since he seems really exited and happy on page 145
ReplyDeleteFreak probably made up the story about the bionic body so that either he didn't have to tell anyone that he was going to die at a young age, or to keep himself from getting too scared whenever he gets tested or has surgery.

ReplyDeleteFreak gets a computer for his birthday.It is special to Freak because then he can show how brainy he is, and he is happy because he has been wanting that for a long time. Since he kinda knew he wouldn't live for a long life span, he was just really happy to have something to be able to say that it is his own. That is just my opinion, but I also agree with Michael.
I think Freak made up that story to calm his nerves down and to reassure himself that it was all going to be okay and that something good will come out of it in the end.(After allthe tests and surgeries.)

ReplyDeleteFor Freaks birthday, he gets a computer. Not just a computer, a super awesome computer. He can play different games on it-but that is not the best part, he can practically go to school with Max because Max has received the exact same computer!
In chapter 25, the auther explains how everybody needs something to hope for. So, I think that Freak knew that there was a 50 50 chance that he would not make it through this surgery. But, if he did, he would be looking forward to becoming Iron Man.
Freak got this computer that has a built in Modem, which is where if freak needs to stay home, he can go to school over the phone.And max would be at school with the exact same computer.

ReplyDeleteFreak (Kevin) got a new computer for his birthday. There are many games and apps that he can play, but there is one app that Freak (Kevin)can use is he ever has to stay home from school. Max got a computer just like it so if Max ever needs help.

I think Freak(Kevin)made up the story of the bionic body so he would not worry about the hardships that he would go through. I also think he made up the story so he could have something to belive in.
The computer that Freak gets for his birthday is significant for a few reasons. The first reason is because he had really been wanting it. The next reason is that it helps him show off his smartness. He teaches Grim how to play 3D chess (page 145). The computer comes with a modem, which allows him to get on the phone. The bad thing is that, or maybe its just a coincidence, but Kevin has a seizure while playing the computer (page146).

The other reason that Freak made up the story is that he kind of wanted to believe it himself. Freak only told Max about the bionic body, the other adults,including Freak, knew that he was going to die young.

ReplyDeletePart 1: What Kevin got for his 13th birthday is a computer. He was so happy he had gotten one. How this significant computer works is that it can help him out in so many ways. Also Max has the same exact computer. (Pages 133,134,and135).
Part 2: He made up that story because because he did not want any body to find out he was going to die at a young age. So he decided to make up a story about getting a bionic body, but never did. He would probably tell his friends and family later on but now he just wants to stick with his story.
For his birthday Kevin gets a significant computer that he really needs for how smart and bright he is. This computer can play 3D games just like 3D chess. Max and Freak can also video chat whenever Freak isn’t in school. That’s why Kevin’s birthday present is significant to Kevin and to Max, too.

He could also have made it up because he didn’t like the idea of dying at a young age and the story probably calmed him down a bit about the idea. Besides there was a 50/50 chance that Freak would not make it through the surgery. Even if he did, he would be looking forward to becoming Iron Man.

ReplyDeleteQ1 For Freak's birthday, he got an awesome computer for his 13th birthday. It's a computer that has 3d chess;which Max taught Gram to play (some where around page 145),I believe it has a capability of video chatting,most importantly it shows off his intelligence. Max also has the same computer. So they can chat after school and what not. I believe it is a very new computer for them because this was around 1993,now it's in every computer not just special expensive computers in present day 2011.
Q2 Freak told the story to Max because,Max would worry about his friend. He has no other,because he's know as "Kicker" and he's "Killer Kane's" son. He worries about him like a brother. They're best friends. A bionic body will make him feel a bit more comfortable. Even if he did get the surgery and it exceeded he would be "Robot Man" like he said when they met. He had a interest in robots,and he still does. There could be a chance of Freak dying in the process.

ReplyDeleteI think that what Kevin for his birthday(the computer and his death) didn't help him or his mom, plus she had to pay for it all. Most likely the computer will only serve as a thought of how he was a good friend. Other wise she probably just sell it and remarry in California.
For some reason Kevin made up the ridiculous idea of a robot body. Sadly he made it up so he would have some thing to cling to when he died. There was no such thing, but he didn't want anybody to worry.

ReplyDelete1. For Freak's 13 birthday Max got him a computer. The computer has 3d chess. Max showed grim how to play. Max already has one of the computers. But Freak is so sensitive.So he ends up having a weird seizure on page 145.
2.Freak lies about how he will be a robot maybe he didn't want max to worry. Max would maybe go all crazy if he found out his best friend is dying. I would be mad. Freak is also is obsessed with robots that could be another theory.

Kevin made up the story about the bionic body because he knew that he couldn’t live long. So, he told Max that he was getting a bionic body because he knew that Max couldn’t handle the fact that he was going to die young. (Evidence: page 156 and 157.)
